Destination Wedding Tips
* Do Your Homework. - Before speaking with us, spend time considering what kind of wedding you're interested in and approximately how much you want to spend. How many people do you intend to invite? Will you be including children, or would you prefer a child-free environment? What is your budget? Who does your budget cover? The more specific you can be regarding your destination and wedding details wish list, the easier it is for us to help you to find exactly what you're looking for within your budget.
* Know the legal requirements. Keep in mind that marriage laws vary from country to country. Some have no waiting period or requirements whatsoever. Others may insist on your presence in the country for up to a week before your ceremony, and information including your birth certificate, passport, and in some places, a blood test. If you are interested in a destination wedding, you may want to check out our wedding requirements page to see if the destination you are thinking about will suit your needs.
* Know Your Budget. - Be up front and honest about your budget. Also, keep in mind your prospective guests' budgets as well. We don't want to present you with options that are completely out of your or their price range. Think about the following questions: Is your budget realistic? What are your priorities? Knowing what you can and can't live without will help us build a custom-fit itinerary within your budget.
* Are you worried about planning the details of your destination wedding? A dizzying number of resorts offer dedicated wedding planners with the experience and resources to coordinate every detail with you. Many reports offer a simple free ceremony with certain room categories, and most resorts have a wide array of options for personalizing your ceremony.
* We are patient, we ask a lot of questions, and we are straightforward about a destination's advantages, as well as its drawbacks. We have a genuine interest in your feedback. We want to entertain your dreams with an open mind and still present a wide range of viable options.
* One of the most important credentials your travel agent has is first-hand experience with the properties we are recommending. Agents who have visited a specific hotel know which room or building has the best view and can recommend the best meal or dessert to order in specific restaurants. We have seen the potential locations for your ceremony and had the opportunity to meet their wedding staff. Sometimes we even have an inside line to the owner or manager and can make special requests on your behalf.
* If at all possible, be flexible. You'll have more options for discounted fares and other promotions if your time frame is flexible. Consider that something as small as a single day's flexibility on either end of your prospective dates can make a huge difference in the number of options available and the price of your trip.
* Be up-front with us. If you or your guests have any medical, diet, exercise, or special needs tell us! We can ensure that those needs are accommodated, and may even suggest an alternate itinerary more suited to your requirements.
* Please ask questions! No question is a stupid question, so ask us. After all, you are coming to us for our knowledge and experience.
* Sometimes travel agencies get stung by potential clients who "window shop" for agents and itineraries then book the tickets themselves. We spend a considerable amount of time and resources to become familiar with destinations and properties, as well as keeping current with the changes that are inevitable in our industry. We charge a fee for our services and expertise. This fee varies according to the intricacies of the trip and is applied to your payment when the trip is booked. This insures that our time and efforts in researching your options are not wasted.
